How to Use an OpenAI-Compatible API with Cursor IDE

5 min read we64 team

Wire up a custom OpenAI Base URL in Cursor in under 5 minutes. Works with any OpenAI-compatible endpoint.

Why Cursor + custom OpenAI Base URL?

Cursor is one of the best AI-powered code editors. By wiring it to an OpenAI-compatible API with unlimited tokens, you get the same Cursor experience for a flat monthly fee.

Step 1 — Open Cursor Settings

Click the gear icon → Models tab. Find the "OpenAI API Key" section, enable the custom switch.

Step 2 — Configure Base URL

Expand "Override OpenAI Base URL" and enter: https://api.we64.com/v1/

Step 3 — Add models

Add custom model names matching our slugs: deepseek-v4-pro, kimi-k3, glm-5-2, etc.

Step 4 — Test and save

Click Test next to each model. If successful, save settings. Open a Chat session and select your custom model.

See docs.html for full integration guides. Free Trial Keys available on WhatsApp.
